Cardiac Perfusionist is an allied health professionals who keeps a patient’s blood pumping and basically takes place the functions of heart & lung while open heart surgery is taking place. Cardiac perfusionists needed for a variety of surgeries including organ transplant, heart lung bypass and other cardiac surgeries. Perfusionist take care of pulmonary and systemic circulation (i.e. purifies patient’s blood), protects the cardiac muscles, vital organs of the body and maintain PH and electrolyte balance without altering the patient’s physiolsgy until the surgery is completed. That’s why Perfusionist has remained as an inseparable and indispensible team member during and sometime after open heart surgery procedures all over the world. |
