Organization :
The "INDIAN
SOCIETY OF EXTRA-CORPOREAL TECHNOLOGY"
(ISECT)
was founded in
the year 1984.
Although our society
is fairly young, many of the members are
pioneers in the field having started their
careers at a time when cardiac surgery was
in its infancy in India. We are now recognized
as a separate group of professionals who
answer to the designation 'Perfusionist'
or ' Extra-Corporeal Technologist '. Some
of our Perfusionists have been trained abroad
while a few have even made a name for themselves
working in other countries.
We have a total of 335
members including Life Members and Associate
Life Members. This dynamic group of professionals
are an important and integral part of any
'Open-Heart Surgery Team'.
The society has an Executive
Committee to conduct its affairs. This committee
has a 3 year tenure and the members are
selected from the Life Members of ISECT
during the Annual General Body Meeting.
Those who are undergoing
a training programme in Perfusion Technology
will be awarded membership as and when they
prove that they are competent and capable
of working independently as Perfusionists.
The norms for granting membership are laid
down in the Rules and Regulations of the
Society.
ISECT is proud of the
fact that it has been able to successfully
conduct its Annual Conference along with
that of the Indian Association of Cardiovascular
& Thoracic Surgeons. It is the aim of
ISECT to encourage maximum participation
in its Annual Conference usually held in
the last week of February.
We also publish a Journal -
'INDIAN JOURNAL OF EXTRA-CORPOREAL TECHNOLOGY'.
