Indian Society of Extra Corporeal Technology (ISECT) is constituted in 1983 with 13 Founder Members after lot of struggle and Registered under Tamil Nadu Society Act in 1985. This was made possible due to the support and encouragement given bY some senior most pioneer Cardiac Surgeons. Shri V.M. Joshi - Mumbai and Shri S. Kuppuswamy - Chennai were founder President and General Secretary respectively.
After six years of fighting with Government of India in the year 1984 we got recognition as perfusionist in Government of India HRD department. To achieve this mission perfusionists called three days strike in AIIMS. They got success and upgraded and got arrears of six years from Government of India.
ISECT is the only body representing the perfusion community all over India and is a member of international perfusion/extra corporeal technologists association community. ISECT is the only body to give us Identification as "PERFUSIONIST".
ISECT was holding joint annual conferences along with Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons (IACTVS) till year 2000. Since 2001 the annual conferences are being held independently. A steady economic growth led the association to stay on its feet. |

At annual conferences half a day is dedicated for continuing perfusion education programme and eminent cardiac surgeons, cardiac anesthesiologists, scientists from various national institutes and eminent perfusion colleagues from abroad are invited to deliver guest lectures.
The young upcoming research oriented perfusionists are honored every year at its annual conference with Gold Medal, Silver Medal, Momentoes, Cash awards with certificates. |

Chosen senior perfusionists with more than two decades of experience are honored with life ime achievement awards at its national Conferences. ISECT also honored eminent cardiac surgeons, ministers and invited guests.
On behalf of ISECT The "Indian Journal of Extra Corporeal Technology " is published twice a year. It has a strength of 500 life members and around 100 associate life members.
ISECT extends a helping hand to the families of diseased perfusionists. ISECT executive committee meeting is held once in a year and also twice if required and make decisions on the future activities and guides the organizing secretary of forth coming annual conference.
ISECT is look forward for its constitution and legal matters. ISECT has renew its registration every year at office of registrar's of societies, Chennai. ISECT is audited its income and expenditure accounts at end of every financial year with Chartered accountant.
ISECT issues certificate to life members. ISECT also issues introductory letters to its members for going abroad and settling down there or for persuing further education at abroad if they need.
Recently ISECT and "Chinese Society of Extra Corporeal Technology" in medicine have understood their objective and recognized each other as partners in the science and art of perfusion technology.
ISECT Office bearers are elected for period of three years term. ISECT is represented on website www.isect.org Recently ISECT has appealed and placed a plea before department related parliamentary standing committee on health and family welfare, Government of India for the constitution of "INDIAN PERFUSION COUNCIL" and is hoping for a favorable outcome. |
